MODULE 1 · Your direct-care promise

Role, ethics & professional responsibility

Direct care is personal, skilled, and built on trust. Know your assignment, stay within your role, and bring Outshine's values into every home.

12MIN
01

Know your job description

Review and sign your current job description. Perform only duties allowed by your license or certification, verified competency, written assignment, plan of care, and Outshine policy.

  • Pause and contact your supervisor when an assignment is unclear.
  • Never perform a task solely because you have seen someone else do it.
  • Report any change that affects your ability to work safely.
02

Ethics and cultural humility

Treat each patient and family with dignity. Listen to preferences, respect cultural and faith traditions, use approved language support, and avoid assumptions about a person's values, identity, family, or abilities.

03

Conflicts and boundaries

Disclose any personal, family, financial, referral, vendor, or outside-work interest that could affect your judgment. Do not borrow money, solicit gifts, conduct private business, or create a relationship outside the professional care role.
